New Zealand to Build First New Cathedral in Over 120 Years: The Diocese of Christchurch has unveiled the design for the new Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, which will stand on the site of the original cathedral destroyed after the devastating Canterbury earthquakes (2010-2011). The new cathedral will preserve historic stained-glass windows. It's a roughly $80 million New Zealand dollar project (about US$46m). The diocese is currently in a fundraising phase. Partner is the architecture firm Warren and Mahoney. The style is "an ancient design, a Romanesque and Gothic hybrid model".

Leo XIV Returned to the Vatican: Leo XIV returned to the Vatican on Monday evening after a three-week summer holiday at Castel Gandolfo. His upcoming schedule includes Assisi (August 6), San Marino and Rimini (August 22), an apostolic journey to France (September 25–28) with visits to Paris, Lourdes, Metz and UNESCO headquarters, and the World Meeting on the implementation of Amoris laetitia at the Vatican (October 7–14). A visit to Peru is expected in November, although the Holy See has not yet officially announced it.
