“…the devil, as much as I may find him quite likeable—and he’s certainly not as bad as people make him out to be… perhaps he adds a little spice to people’s lives…” - Fr. Agnello Stoia, Conventual Franciscan and parish priest of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, speaking in this undated video.
Canonisation cause opens for two Belfast priests A new case for the cause of canonisation of two Irish priests – who were shot dead in Belfast by the British Army – has been opened by the Diocese of Down and Connor.
Canonisation cause opens for two Belfast priests A spokesman for the Diocese has told The Irish Catholic that the process for “the cause of the saints” has been started for Fr Hugh Mullan and Fr Noel Fitzpatrick. The two priests were shot dead in two separate incidents in the 1970s, while ministering the last rites to parishioners in Corpus Christi parish in Ballymurphy. “It is at the early stages,” he added, describing what he called “a long process”. The case was initiated by Bishop Alan McGuckian. The initial stage involves writing a dossier and then, in liaison with Rome, appointing someone to investigate and promote the cause. It also involves interviewing those who knew the priests and how they lived out the theological virtues such as faith, hope, and love. In 2022 another Irish priest, a Jesuit and army chaplain, Fr Willie Doyle, SJ was declared ‘a Servant of God’ – the first official stage in the path to sainthood. A prayer card in honour of Fr Mullan and Fr Fitzpatrick was …Okuninzi

European bishops sidestep ‘Traditionis Custodes’, continuing traditional Latin Masses in parish churches without Vatican dispensation. Last week, the Dicastery for Divine Worship published all its decrees from 2025, including permissions for the 1962 Roman Missal in parish churches. The list shows permissions for 55 parishes in 33 dioceses. 41 of the parish-church locations in the 2025 decrees are in the United States - about 75%. France is conspicuously absent from the 2025 index despite its importance among Catholics. No parish church in Paris appears among the Dicastery’s published dispensations in 2023, 2024 or 2025. Obviously, there are Masses. In the Paris parish of Saint-Eugène–Sainte-Cécile, the old Mass has been celebrated since the 1980s and remains part of the daily and Sunday schedule. Sainte-Odile also lists a Sunday Mass in the 1962 rite. Another example is London, England. No dispensation for a London parish church appears in the Dicastery’s published indexes for 2023,…Okuninzi
LiveLeak #Spain. Thursday 10 September 2026, severe tension and violent clashes erupted at the historic Fossar de les Moreres plaza in Barcelona during an eve-of-the-Diada event hosted by the far-right party Catalan Alliance. Anti-fascist demonstrators surrounded the square to protest the event, which led to a heavily reinforced deployment of the regional police, the Mossos d'Esquadra. The situation quickly escalated into a confrontation when counter-protestors twice attempted to break through security cordons, prompting police officers to deploy batons during a series of crowd control charges.
Marko Rupnik’s new monumental mosaic façade was inaugurated (!) at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida in Brazil. Yesterday evening, the shrine unveiled the basilica’s 4,000-square-metre west façade. The project began in 2019 and continued after allegations of sexual and psychological abuse against Rupnik became public. The north façade was inaugurated in 2022, the south in 2024 and the east in 2025. Meanwhile, the sanctuary of Lourdes in France has covered Rupnik’s mosaics, citing consideration for victims of abuse.
Last night in Aparecida, Brazil, the final monumental mosaic façade created by the Centro Aletti — founded by Marko Rupnik — was officially inaugurated. While Rupnik’s mosaics are being covered in Lourdes, his artistic legacy is being unveiled on a monumental scale in Brazil.
‘The Templar Rule Of Order’; ‘The Primitive Rule’; ‘The Names of the Fathers…’; pages 2 The original Latin Rule of Order was penned with the assistance of the young Cistercian Abbott, Bernard of Clairvaux. The rule is very similar to the modified Benedictine rule used by the Cistercian order. This makes perfect sense as the two orders were closely related and linked. Leo XIV Strengthens Papal Control Over Eastern Catholic Patriarchs Today, Leo XIV issued the Motu Proprio Mutua concordia, setting out “an orderly procedure for the removal of a Patriarch from office by the Synod of Bishops” of an Eastern Catholic Church. The new rules allow a synod, for a grave reason, to ask a patriarch to resign. If he refuses, the bishops can proceed to a secret vote on his removal, in which at least two-thirds of the synod’s voting members must take part. The synod does not have the final word. Leo XIV reserved to the Roman Pontiff “the granting of assent to the synodal decision.” The removal only takes legal effect after the Pope gives his assent. #newsVxvvrngosc
Why Tech Oligarchs Are Willing to Risk Apocalypse nytimes.com/…/12/opinion/ai-tech-apocalypse-silic… Sept. 12, 2026 By Michelle Goldberg Opinion Columnist In a series of private speeches last year, Peter Thiel, the billionaire tech investor and Silicon Valley thought leader, said that the young activist Greta Thunberg represented the spirit of the Antichrist. It was more than just a hyperbolic slur. Thiel was expressing a Promethean theology, one that sanctifies technology and expansion. In Thiel’s worldview, the forces of dynamism must struggle against the evils of stagnation, represented by Thunberg’s leftist environmentalism. “In the 21st century, the Antichrist is a Luddite who wants to stop all science,” said Thiel. Thiel’s philosophical assumptions might sound bizarre to outsiders, but they appear to be widely shared among the tech elite. “A.I. and its capabilities represent something analogous to the Second Coming,” Jeremy Nixon, a founder of an A.I. hub called A.G.I. House, …Okuninzi

By Mike Isaac Mike Isaac covers Silicon Valley and artificial intelligence companies from San Francisco. Sept. 12, 2026 Dario Amodei, the chief executive of Anthropic, called for a global slowdown of artificial intelligence development in a 3,800-word essay on Saturday, just days after one of the company’s employees quit over concerns about the safety of the technology. Top executives of other major A.I. companies quickly signed on to the effort. Sam Altman, the chief executive of OpenAI; Elon Musk, whose SpaceX rocket company has been ramping up spending on A.I.; and Demis Hassabis, the chair of Google DeepMind, wrote in social media posts that they agreed on the need for a slower pace. Pub Meeting (!) and FSSPX Mass Prompt Minnesota Bishop’s Warning Bishop Patrick Neary of Saint Cloud, Minnesota, issued a diocesan warning against the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) after an unauthorized Mass was celebrated in the diocese. In a letter dated September 2, Bishop Neary said he had learned of a social-media post promoting a meeting at the restaurant Opole Pub to “explore bringing the Latin Mass” to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Opole. The same post advertised a Latin Mass for the following day at the Opole Ballpark Pavilion, part of the local baseball grounds. Monsignor Neary wrote that neither event was sanctioned by the diocese. Both, he said, involved a priest of the FSSPX — “a group recently declared by the Holy See to be in schism with the Catholic Church because of the illicit ordination of four bishops without a papal mandate.” The bishop told Catholics not to “support or participate in FSSPX-sponsored activities, including inviting FSSPX priests to …Okuninzi
